The Best Way to Restore Stained & Yellowed Linens

Sometimes, due to storing them for a long time, linens get that ugly and unsightly stained and yellowed look. If you are lucky, they wonțt look too bad. However, it only takes enough yellow stains to discover you need to get rid of them right away. Thus, restore the linens appearance with the best method to banish stained and yellowed linens. Check it out, keep reading!

One thing you should know from the start, this process will definitely take more time than you would want to!! However, if you really want to salvage whatțs left of your linens, it’s well worth it!

This is the method I used and never looked back:

1. Put yellowed items in a large pot of water.

2. Add 1/4 cup salt and 1/2 cup baking soda.

3. Bring to a boil and turn off the burner.

So you better understand, the secret to cleaning your linens is the hot water. Allow soaking for as long as needed, it might actually take around 2 to 3 days if they are in bad shape. I would also recommend changing out the water every day but you don’t have to. Another thing to keep in mind is that you should also re-heat the water a couple of times to allow the hot water to do its’ magic!

4. Continue to check the progress of the stain removal and when satisfied, drain the water and rinse thoroughly! If there is any soap left in your linens, it will turn brown when you will want to iron them. It will also eat away at the fibers over time so make sure you rinse very well. Eventually, rinse multiple times.

5. Lastly, if possible, you should allow them to dry in the sun on a flat surface. Putting them on a clothesline will damage them by stretching them out of shape. Even in winter, with a weak sun, outside drying is recommended because the dryer tends to dull linens.

For me, it was worth the wait! The linens have now been restored to their former brightness and they are ready to be put to use.
