How Do I Keep Ants Out Of Dog Food?

Having pets is one of the best experiences anyone can try! They bring joy and love to your home, and, nevertheless, life is better with pets! But, there’s a but in everything, pets can bring to your home various pests such as fleas, ticks and ants. Not only that these pests will harm your little fellow, it will also harm humans. No one wants to scratch off fleabites or to be bitten by ticks, so try to take care of your pet properly to prevent sleeping with pests.

Beside fleas and ticks, ants are another creepy pest that can be brought indoors by your pet, especially by dogs. It’s well known that dogs eat very messy, leaving dog crunches all around their food bowl. But did you know that dog food is also great for ants? Well, it is! The other days I found the whole ant colony in the kitchen attacking the dog food and carrying it to the anthill.

The struggle didn’t stop at cleaning and removing ants from the area, because these tiny pests were coming back craving for more food.

Fortunately, I discovered some awesome strategies in getting rid of ants in the kitchen and still feeding my dog.

  • Find ants entry points
  • Find the ant nest
  • Kill ants trail

Destroy the ant trail using the following natural solutions:

A common homemade remedy is a mixture of water and white vinegar. Fill a spray bottle with the mixture and spray the trails the ants use to get into your kitchen. Wipe your work tops regularly with the mixture to prevent future infestations and keep your kitchen ultra clean.

Soapy water is another safe solution to get rid of ants. Mix a capful of liquid soap with a cup of water and put into a spray bottle. Spray the mixture on the ants whenever you see them. Once they have all been caught, wipe them up after 5 minutes. This will allow you to remove them instantly.
